 Baptist Health

Baptist Health is the largest healthcare system serving central Alabama. Baptist Medical Center South is a 454-licensed-bed regional acute care referral center and the tertiary care flagship facility for Baptist Health. Baptist Medical Center East is a 150-bed acute care hospital providing a broad range of healthcare services, specializing in obstetrics and women’s services. Prattville Baptist Hospital is an acute care, community hospital with 85 licensed beds, offering a full range of health services to residents of Autauga and Elmore counties. In addition to comprehensive hospital-based services, it also offers outpatient specialties such as diabetes, breast health, wound care, neurosciences, home health, hospice, sleep disorders, mental health, speech and hearing and physical rehabilitation.

Baptist Health serves nearly 70 percent of the residents in Montgomery, Autauga and Elmore counties. With more than 4,000 employees, Baptist Health is also central Alabama’s largest non-governmental employer. Baptist Health was recently named a Thomson Reuters Top 15 Health System, a distinction that recognizes the nation’s top 15 health systems for setting industry benchmarks for excellence across the healthcare spectrum. 2012 Thomson Reuters 15 Top Health Systems

This award recognizes the nation’s top 15 health systems for setting industry benchmarks for excellence across the healthcare spectrum. Impressively, Baptist Health was the only health system in Alabama to receive this prestigious recognition. Selection for the nation’s 15 Top Health Systems award is performance based and relies solely on unbiased statistical and clinical results. The 2012 study found that the top 15 health systems:

Baptist Health has been named in Thomson Reuters’ annual 100 Top Hospitals: Health System Benchmarks Study identifying the top U.S. health systems based on quality of care, efficiency and patient satisfaction.

American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines -- Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award

The award recognizes Baptist Health’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of stroke care by ensuring that stroke patients receive treatment for at least 24 months according to nationally accepted standards and recommendations.

American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines -- Gold Plus Heart Failure Quality Achievement Award

The recognition signifies that Baptist South has reached an aggressive goal of treating heart failure patients with 85 percent compliance for at least 24 months to core standard levels of care as outlined by the American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology secondary prevention guidelines for heart failure patients.

American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines -- Silver Quality Achievement Award

The award recognizes Baptist South’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of stroke care by ensuring that stroke patients receive treatment according to nationally accepted standards and recommendations.

Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care by Blue Cross Blue Shield

This distinction was given after it was determined that Baptist Medical Center South met criteria for selection. Blue Distinction Centers for Cardiac Care provide a full range of cardiac services, including inpatient cardiac care, cardiac rehabilitation, cardiac catheterization, cardiac surgery, coronary artery bypass graft surgery and percutaneous coronary interventions. Facilities must also be fully accredited by The Joint Commission.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield created the nationwide Blue Distinction program with two goals in mind--first to engage consumers to make more informed healthcare choices and second to work with providers to improve quality outcomes and affordability.

Excellence in Vascular Surgery

Baptist Medical Center South has been named No. 1 in Alabama for vascular surgery and was ranked in the top 10 percent in the U.S.

Baptist Medical Center East

Top 100 Hospitals by Thomson Reuters (2012, 2010)

Baptist Medical Center East was named one of the 100 Top Hospitals by Thomson Reuters, a leading provider of information and solutions to improve the cost and quality of healthcare. The award recognizes hospitals that have achieved excellence in clinical outcomes, patient safety, patient satisfaction, financial performance and operational efficiency.

Baptist East was the only hospital in Alabama to receive this award in 2012.

Excellence in Patient Safety

Baptist Medical Center East is in the top 5 percent in the nation for patient safety.

2007 VHA Award

Baptist Medical Center East was a recipient of the 2007 VHA Leadership Award, which recognizes high-quality care that meets or exceeds national performance standards. Baptist Medical Center East was recognized for clinical excellence for implementation of Rapid Response Team improved outcomes.

Prattville Baptist Hospital

J.D. Power and Associates Distinguished Hospital Program

This distinction acknowledges a strong commitment by the hospital to provide “An Outstanding Inpatient Experience.” The distinction was determined by surveying recently discharged patients about their perceptions of their hospital visit and comparing the results to the national benchmarks established in the annual J.D. Power and Associates National Hospital Service Performance Study. The telephone-based research conducted among Prattville Baptist Hospital patients focused on five key areas of patient satisfaction with the patient’s overall experience. These areas of focus were speed and efficiency; dignity and respect; comfort; information and communication; and emotional support.

Employer of Choice

In October 2007, Prattville Baptist Hospital received the Employer of Choice® award.

The hospital met a number of criteria that evaluates the culture of the organization, leadership, care of people, growth and opportunity, human resource processes, job/role/process design and growing the next generation.

Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Gold Quality Achievement Award with Target: Stroke Honor Roll

Prattville Baptist Hospital has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Quality Achievement Award with Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll in 2015. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment and success ensuring that stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.
